The #ShiftThePower movement has been consolidating and gaining visibility on a global scale over the last few years and the Summit in Colombia will provide a space to continue and deepen strategic discussions around the decolonization of philanthropy. In addition to holding these debates, it will be important to learn about advocacy experiences and initiatives aimed at changing existing hierarchical and patriarchal practices in the field, and to create innovative dynamics based on new relationships.

It will also be important to reflect on the development dynamics of local philanthropy, which is breaking the paradigm of developmental growth, reviving ancestral experiences and trajectories of community philanthropy. We also need to think about strategies around the continuity and sustainability of the movement, seeking ways to give it broader visibility based on the development of new joint actions. And that will be a big challenge.

The Comuá Network is committed to mobilizing and involving Brazilian philanthropic players to give power to these global debates, and to bring them back to our local contexts.
